Required Roles: Workspace Manager (to create categories); Editor permissions on the category (to create products)
Overview
The Submission Builder and eCTD Viewer share the same organizational hierarchy: Category > Product > Application. Applications in the Submission Builder then contain Submissions; applications in the eCTD Viewer contain Archives.
Categories and products created in either module are shared -- a category you create while in the eCTD Viewer is available in the Submission Builder as well. This article covers how to create, rename, and delete categories and products in both modules.
Creating a Category
Categories are the top-level grouping in both the Submission Builder and eCTD Viewer. Only Workspace Managers can create categories.
Enter Manager Mode by selecting it from the user menu in the top navigation bar.
Navigate to Submissions or eCTD Viewer from the left navigation. The admin browser opens automatically in Manager Mode.
At the bottom of the category list, select + Create Category.
Enter the category name in the Name field.
Select Create Category to confirm. A success toast confirms the category was created and it appears in the list immediately.
Creating a Product
Products are nested within categories. To create a product, you must have Editor permissions on the parent category.
In the category list, select the category in which you want to create the product. The category expands to show its existing products and a + Create Product in [Category Name] button.
Select + Create Product in [Category Name].
Enter the product name in the Product Name field.
Select Create Product to confirm. The new product appears immediately under the expanded category.
Note: Once a product exists, you can expand it to create Applications within it, and then Submissions or Archives under each Application.
Renaming a Category or Product
Categories and products can be renamed inline directly from the admin browser. Editor permissions are required to rename a product; Manager Mode is required to rename a category.
Locate the category or product you want to rename in the admin browser.
Click on the Category or Product and edit the name
Press Enter or select outside the field to save.
Deleting a Category or Product
Categories and products can be deleted using the trash icon next to their name, subject to the following rules:
Categories cannot be deleted if they contain products. Remove or reassign all products first.
Products can be deleted when you have Editor permissions on the category.
Locate the category or product you want to delete.
Select the trash icon. A confirmation prompt appears.
Confirm the deletion. The item is removed immediately.
Note: If the trash icon is grayed out on a category, it contains products and cannot be deleted until those products are removed.
