The 2026.1.4 release includes two new user-facing features, as well as usability improvements and minor bug fixes.
Version Labels
Version labels will allow you to add additional labelling to approved docs - indicating whether the version is effective, superseded, or expired. These labels will be based on key dates set during the approval process, such as how many days after approval the document should become effective.
As part of this change, you will now also be able to add a periodic review step to your workflows, allowing you to review an approved version and extend its effective period, rather than approving a new version of the document.
Version labels can be set at the workflow level, giving you configurability across different document types. These labels will show on the document card, giving your team visibility into the state of an approved document version.
Enablement: Feature Flag - disabled on release. Customers will work with Kivo to implement version labels in their organization.
Removing Uncategorized Metadata (legacy metadata migrated from other systems)
For organizations with imported metadata that has not been mapped to a Kivo metadata field, there will now be two options to clean up this metadata if desired:
Remove metadata from existing documents - will remove that metadata from all versions (found in Bulk Actions)
Remove metadata from new document versions - will prevent uncategorized metadata from being copied to the next version of the document (found in Folder Settings)
Both of these options will be available to workspace managers in folder settings.
Enablement: Enabled for Workspace Managers.
A full list of changes will be loaded into your validation cabinet in Kivo. Look for the validation documentation for release 2026.Q1.4.
