Introduction

If you are using Safari on macOS, you may need to enable pop-ups for Kivo to ensure Microsoft 365 and DocuSign integrations function properly.

Safari blocks pop-ups by default. However, Kivo relies on secure pop-up windows to open Microsoft Office documents in Office 365 and to authenticate DocuSign sessions. If pop-ups are blocked, document editing or signature workflows may fail to launch correctly.

This article explains how to enable pop-ups for Kivo in Safari.

Why Pop-Ups Are Required

Kivo uses secure pop-up windows to:

  • Open Microsoft Office documents in Office 365 for online editing

  • Authenticate Microsoft 365 sessions

  • Launch DocuSign signature windows

  • Complete secure identity verification between systems

If pop-ups are blocked, you may experience:

  • Documents not opening in Office 365

  • Blank screens during editing

  • DocuSign not launching

  • Authentication errors

Enabling pop-ups allows Safari to open the secure Microsoft or DocuSign window required to complete the action.

How to Enable Pop-Ups in Safari

Step 1 – Log In to Kivo

Log in to app.kivo.io

Step – Open Safari Settings

Click Safari in the top menu bar.
Select Settings (or Preferences, depending on your macOS version).

Step 2 – Open the Websites Tab

In the Safari Settings window, select the Websites tab.

Step 3 – Enable Pop-Ups for Kivo

  1. In the left-hand column, select Pop-up Windows.

  2. Locate the Kivo application in the list of currently open websites.

  3. Change the setting to Allow.

This permits Kivo to open the secure windows required for Microsoft and DocuSign integrations.

Important Notes

  • If you use multiple Kivo environments (Production, Sandbox, Demo), you must enable pop-ups for each environment separately.

  • You only need to allow pop-ups for Kivo — not for all websites.

  • Enabling pop-ups does not reduce system security when applied to trusted domains like Kivo.

Troubleshooting

If documents or DocuSign windows still do not open after enabling pop-ups:

  • Fully close and restart Safari

  • Confirm you enabled pop-ups for the correct Kivo URL

  • Clear your browser cache if authentication issues persist

  • Contact [email protected] for assistance
